☯️ This is too true. Making time for yourself doesn’t make you a bad person!!
When you carve out time to spend with yourself it’s important to use it to do what you need to do. Don’t waste it. If you have shit to do, do it. If you need a long bath, bath. If you need to relax and switch your phone off, do just that. I’m going to put together one of my very rare blog posts this evening as I have some further opening up to do. I literally only do this for me, it’s a weird form of therapy but it works for me and that’s what matters. HAPPY FRIDAY 🤩🧘♀️ _____________________________________________________________

Sateessa on silti ihana juosta. 🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️ #run#running#juokseminen#juoksu#rain#lovetorunintherain#wellness#mind#body#wellbeing#cardio#instarunner#hyväolo#juoksemisenilo#hyväjuoksu

“Life is glorious, but life is also wretched.... One inspires us, the other softens us.” – Pema Chodron
Grateful for so much every day. 🙏💕
It’s the weekend 🎉 And a bank holiday weekend at that 🙌 Take this time to CHILL THE F OUT. I’m getting my om on tomorrow in hot yoga, creating some recipes and having a good clean out. One thing that has been an absolute non-negotiable form of self care for me recently has been GRATITUDE ✨ It is something so incredibly simple that makes the world of difference. The last few months have been, for lack of a better word, a bit of a emotional rollercoaster. I reached the highest high with the book coming out, which quickly soared to the lowest low as all my anxiety stems around WHATS NEXT?!Nothing seemed good enough, I felt so bloody exhausted and I lost all motivation. The one thing that has really pulled me back, has been establishing a gratitude practice. Every. single. day. And being relentless with it. Whenever I’m out and about, or on the tube, I’ll list everything that I’m grateful for, regardless of how small. Sometimes it’ll be how great my smoothie was that morning or how grateful I am to have such incredible girl friends. What you put out into the world, you get back, and magic has started happening again 🙌 What are you grateful for this week? Book recommendation: The Magic + The Universe has Your Back (@gabbybernstein) + The Hashimotos Protocol (@izabellawentzpharmd - obsessed with learning about thyroid health right now.

Our attitudes determine our success- they shape the way we relate to ourselves and the world around us. With high Optimism, an individual may feel invincibly happy- but they are prone to tolerate problematic behaviors or situations. With this oversight and lack of skepticism- highly optimistic people miss out on the red flags that most individuals would take as a warning sign.

What does self care mean? It is so much more than indulging yourself with pedicures and facials... • Self care means knowing who you are and your limits. Self care means recognizing when you are doing more than you are used to handling and trying to figure out what can be done to slow down. • Self care means getting the sleep you need and knowing how to rest. Making a serious effort to make that happen as well as knowing how to rest your body and your mind are essential. • Self care means making sure that you're well fed. Do you eat well, does what you eat provide the energy you need to function? • Self care means finding a way to decompress throughout your day, not just when you leave work or when the kids go to sleep. The brain needs pauses throughout the day! • Self care means giving some thought to changing a difficult situation in your personal life or at work. • Self care means taking time to get to connect and know yourself better. • Self care means identifying what you enjoy doing and what's fun for you and making a serious effort to integrate it into your day or, at the very least, your week. Make it a habit to plan something to look forward to everyday that doesn't have to be complicated. • Self care means knowing how to unwind from a busy day. That might mean driving in silence or listening to music to help transition from work to home. • Self care means feeding your spiritual self. That might take the form of meditating, praying, being with nature on a walk, observing a sunset or sunrise, attending a religious service, practicing gratitude, reading or listening to something inspirational. • Finally, self care means taking time to love yourself and appreciating that there's only one you. You are worth making yourself a priority in your life. If you don’t work, nothing else will! #selfcare#weekend#selflove#selfworth#selfacceptance#wholeness#mindbodysoul#youareworthit#youareenough#eatingdisorder#ed#edrecovery#trauma#depression#anxiety#wellbeing#heal#recover#therapy#psychotherapist#bocaraton#bocatherapist#southflorida#support#mentalhealth#happiness

Already dreaming about sleep and it’s 3pm! I’m getting up close and personal about beauty sleep... The brain loves consistency so setting up a night time routine is a game changer. 🧡
Things that have helped me get my ultimate beauty sleep:
1. Decreasing stress + anxiety. An obviously but important reminder to add in some yoga (legs up the wall) or meditation right before bed.
2. Find a good pillow @sleepandglow is not only comfortable but it’s been developed by orthopedists to prevent sleep wrinkles and morning puffiness. All about this! It also has a silky cover which is amazing for your hair!
3. Diet + hydration. I try not to eat at least 2 hours before bed, helps with digestion (blood flow to the brain instead of digestion) and avoiding caffeine in the afternoon/evening.
4. No electronics in bed or at least 30 minutes before sleep. *Use code mindful10 for 10$ off @sleepandglow pillow!
How are you guys getting your best beauty sleep!? 💤 #themindfulblonde#sleepandglow

ANXIETY | IT'S NOT A BAD CLOUD OR SCARY MOVIE | IT'S STRESS RESPONSE | HOW TO GET OUT OF THESE THOUGHTS👇
Is a natural human reaction, your mind (amygdala) is sensing danger/fear, then sending a message to your adrenal glands to start pumping stress hormomes. The amygdala senses a real danger or a perceived danger.
Examples of causes of anxiety.
Infront of a scary situation. An animal, a fight, an accident.
A constantly stressful situation, arguing, abuse, money worries, bullying. Feeling unsafe.
A physical pain that you are worried about and dealing with the pain.
There are many real situations, events that cause your stress response to be activated.
Worrying that something WILL happen, cataatrophising.
When the amygdala has sensed you are in danger, it's job is not over when the hormones begin. It's job is also to be aware of any more danger/negative because this is a human function designed to keep you alive. This is why we seem to be only focused on all that can go wrong & the longer we have experienced anxiety the more likely it is that you may become even questioning when you're not feeling anxiety.
When your thoughts turn to 'what's that feeling? I feel apprehensive & do not even know why?' Take a deep breath for a moment. This isn't a scary cloud moving over you. This is your survival function focused on how you feel, your mind may be scanning for danger. Apprehensive that you're experiencing anxiety because not knowing what this is can feel quite scary & fear is a cause of stress response also. So we have to move away from fearing how we feel.
When this happens we must try to find a level of acceptance. Explain to yourself
'This is my stress response scanning which is normal, I have been a bit stressed but im not afraid & fear makes things worse. Feeling pass, I'll distract this thought with a nice memory or an activity, a song. Etc.
You're not a crazy person, you're going through a lot & learning you are not your stress response you are just experiencing it. It will pass.
ARE YOU AT THE TOP MOST OF THE TIME? 👇
A little anxiety is normal, good for us.
To push us that little bit more, that extra boost of adrenaline to get you to the deadline.
🙏BUT constantly pushing your limits will switch this stress response on with no rest to turn it back down again. Exhausted AND experiencing anxiety can leave you not knowing how to help yourself.
First thing is bringing a calm to your body & then the mind.
Using tools like
Muscle relaxation techniques
Any calm activity
All to send a message to your mind & body 'it's ok we are calming, there is no danger/stress you can switch off our stress response.'
*this is a process & obviously easier said than done. However actions speak louder than words, our action are the ones we choose. The only way to know anything is through practice, support, self compassion.🤗
in this case the cause of stress is giving too much. MORE than you can give.
It's time to look at your boundaries, & this for many people will be the first time you have even questioned that you have a choice in the matter. Boundaries are when we acknowledge what our needs are & if doing that action or behaviour will compromise your needs, compromise what's ok for you. Everyone is different & it's perfectly ok for you to decide where to draw the line. Once you know where to draw the line, now it's about learning & practicing to say no thank you. Sometimes you have to say it once. Sometimes people will keep asking & thats fine, you just keep letting them know that YOU have decided what's good for you. Sometimes this feels very strange for a while as you may have never been shown boundaries or have had yours pushed since you were small, that's ok it's never too late to learn!🤗
Always polite, you don't have to raise your voice, you are not defending yourself here. There is no fight. You've decided & that's that!
Once you begin getting to know what's good for you, the stress reduces🙏
