Instagram has a weird way of turning everything into a competition for praise. Whenever I post, I always begin to think whether a certain picture will “do well.” Over time, this has limited me from posting certain pictures. From now on, I will be posting pictures that I like the most, not pictures that I believe will get the most amount of likes. This shot is a perfect example. A kid playing basketball while walking down a Brooklyn street during the summer. I love this shot and the story behind it, but to many, many other people, it’s just a kid dribbling basketball.

DYK: The huge Barnes & Noble on the north side of Union Square is actually located within the Century Building, which was once home to the Century Publishing Company's headquarters. Built in the early 1800s, this unique building was deemed a NYC landmark in 1993. 📚 #mysecretnyc
