Good morning ☀️ it’s a new day, meaning you can achieve new goals. You can start something you’ve been putting off. You can start new, leaving things that don’t make you better in the past. #onemessage#YouCan •

Summer can be an especially challenging time to maintain positive fitness motivation. One culprit is the idea that we need a "summer body" which is found everywhere from social media to some fitness coaches. But motivation that stems from guilt, shame, or negative opinions is not okay no matter where the source comes from 🙅🏻♀️ Your body deserves to loved and cared for during ALL seasons in ALL stages of your fitness journey ❤️
How do we create positive motivation? For starters, there's nothing more positive than having fun! You can work toward a fitness goal by dancing, walking, cycling, swimming...and do that activity by yourself, with a partner, with a group, in a class, in a club...There are countless options, so try something new or switch things up!
Second, determine your go-to positive sources of motivation for those days when you need an extra push. Positive motivators are free from guilt, shame, and fear. Let's take a cycling class as an example. Going to class can mean you're doing something for yourself today. Going can mean you're caring for your body. Going can mean you'll see your friend or cycling community. Pick a reason or two that resonates with you ✨ #positivevibes#fitnessinspiration

See the chick on the right? She was one of the many women who was my competition. But more than that, she IS my friend. For probably two months before the show we texted every day, all day. We shared our daily struggles, our wins. We vented about everything/everyone that was pissing us off. 😂 We motivated each other to push play on our workouts and to put down the dang cookie. I shared a room with her the night before our show. We got tanned together and dressed together. We shared post show treats with one another. Would I have met her if I wasn’t competing? Probably not. But I did and now I have a friend for life. 🤗
I’ve heard, over the years, from so many females, that girls are catty and they’ve never gotten along with them. I use to be that girl, too. But finding my tribe through my health and fitness journey has opened my eyes to a whole new community of love. And doing a physique competition showed me even more support. Yes, we were all COMPETING against each other. But backstage.... so much love was had. I shared a ride back to the hotel with a couple girls I’d never met before. I had girls that I may never see again putting bikini glue on my butt. 😂 We took selfies with strangers. We tied each other’s bikinis, wished them luck, congratulated them after judging, told them how beautiful they looked. So, yes, the girl on the right might have been competition, but she was also my supporter, and my BIGGEST competition was the girl on the left - ME. .
If you’re one of those who’s always believed you can’t be friends with other ladies, it’s because you haven’t found the RIGHT ladies. You don’t have to enter a body building competition to have that support. I offer that every day in my virtual boot camp group. So when you’re ready to learn more, I’m ready to share. 😘

I’m about to get really real with you all. #vulnerablepost#pleasedontjudge For soooo long, I have struggled with comparison.
She’s in better shape/stronger than I am.
She’s got more followers than I do.
She’s more successful in her business than I am.
She’s got more likes on her posts than I do.
She’s more outgoing and confident than I am.
Y’all, the list goes on. 😞
I’ve always been a competitive person. I like winning. But I hated that now everything was becoming a comparison in my head. I couldn’t be genuinely happy for my friends because deep down I was jealous of their success and this one is hard for me to admit, but I was bitter that they had what I wanted.
Have you heard the quote from Theodore Roosevelt, “Comparison is the thief of joy.”? It’s true. I lacked joy. Instead I had disappointment, frustration, jealousy, and resentment and I hated it.
I learned recently that a lot of this comes from a scarcity mindset. That deep down, I believed that her success limited my own success. That her accomplishments somehow got in the way of my own accomplishments. That there wasn’t enough to go around for all of us and I was losing out. As with many things lately, I had to change my mindset.
You see, there is enough!! She can be successful and so can I! She can be in great shape and so can I! She can crush her goals and so can I! She is NOT my competition!! I am my competition!! Will I show up today and give more than I did yesterday? Will I push myself harder than I did last week? Will I keep fighting for myself? YES!!! I WILL!!
And you want to know the most beautiful thing about this shift? Now I am able to be genuinely excited and happy for my friends as they accomplish their goals and progress forward! I can cheer for them with a pure heart. I can be encouraged and motivated by their success. 💜 And I can leave the competition here at home.
It’s a continuous battle. The mind is not an easy thing to change. But it’s worth fighting for. 👊🏼

1-minute body-neutrality challenge: Tag one friend and give them a sincere, non-appearance-based compliment. ⠀
Because even if you think your friend is absolutely gorgeous, we could all use a little extra reminder that – no matter what we look like, how much we happen to fit our society’s beauty ideal and whether or not we like what we see in the mirror at the moment– at the end of the day, we are SO much more than just our bodies. 🧡⠀
P.S. If you missed it, scroll down our grid to find "Body confidence myth 4" for a full explanation of why appearance-based compliments are NOT a good way to boost someone's body image.⠀
And if you want more info on body-neutrality and how to actually improve your body image: I’ve got a book for that - and it’s FINALLY OUT! 🥳 If you haven’t gotten your copy of Beyond Beautiful yet, check out the links in our bio! And don’t forget you can also just walk into your local bookstore and they can order the book for you, if they don’t already have it in stock. Thank you for all of your support and lovely feedback – these past few days have been like a dream (a very, very happy exciting one) for me. 😘🤧 ⠀
It's time to BO$$ UP and remind people who TF you are!!! 🤑💕🤑

Full moon aftermath = Radical Self care.
I find that when the tides are high, emotions overwhelm you and to many questions are unanswered, it is time to unplug and time for what I like to call RADICAL self care - what ever that looks like for you.
So today I oiled my hair, put on a face mask, scrubs my body and oiled it to [all while my daughter was sitting in the bathtub - else there is no way that all can happen as a mom of 3!!]. Now she is napping, I do my puja, put on nail polish [whaaaaat that also almost never happens!!] and I’m pulling out my tarot cards - time to do some divination 🔮
What good did you do today? Or planing to do in this full moon aftermath? 🌕💞
Like this post if you think every child, regardless of background, should have a quality education.

Or if you need the time and space, go ahead and sit still.
As someone who packs her schedule and am always on to the next to-do/event/idea, I’ve come to the realization that I’ve been hard on myself. And that self-care and self-love isn’t always a mask or a vacation (for me, that’s just another way of keeping busy) but sitting still.
Are you in growth-mode or sitting still? Share below 👇🏽
