I've always heard if you wah good you nose haffi run. It happened literally, as I typed my draft essays. I remember showing @king_suaave the clear cold running rapidly in Brewd Awakenings that Saturday.
Never underestimate the power of a single decision. I was able to convert the fear of applying into determination. This application process was also a personal and professional metamorphosis of my character. A bold and barefaced confrontation of my future.
I thank all who provided support at this time. From the first mention of Chevening, the proofreading and painstaking edits, the mock interviews, and the emotional reinforcement such mental massages!
I'll be studying Global Communication and Development at @lborolondon I'm so excited!
I pledge my heart forever to serve with humble pride, this shining homeland ever so long as earth abide.
I pledge my heart this island
As God and faith shall live
My work, my strength, my love and my loyalty to give
O green isle of the Indies
Jamaica strong and free
Our vows and loyal promises
O heartland 'tis to thee.

"SOCIAL MEDIA IS SO FAKE!" I hear it all the time, up to yesterday during a conversation with a friend. I asked "is it social media? Or is it people?" Sometimes we are incorrect in our assumptions. It can be both and that's entirely subjective.
There are so many sides to me, so I decide what I want people to see. It's inevitable for people to assume, I can't avoid that. Has life been good to me? YES. Do I struggle? YES. My flavour of struggle is different, most of my battles are mental and quite recently I was engaged in a spiritual warfare which reinforced that God is fighting my battles.
So if people only post the good, that's because that's what they want people to see. Some people use social media as their highlight reel, their pulpit, their runway, their diary, their classroom and that's ALL okay. You cannot be everything for everyone. It may seem that some people are winning every day. Ever thought that they simply have a winning attitude towards everything. Their losses are lessons, so they really never lose. Life is all about the lens you look through. Some lens really blurry.
Exposing our vulnerable side is not easy, and sometimes we judge people (harshly) when they do. If you see through the veil of the imperfect who paint a perfect picture, then that's also teaching you something.
Regardless...LIVE IN YOUR TRUTH...not others.
I'm happy and always winning at life because I choose to!

With all the effort we have to put in to get good grades, get a job, be successful and the list goes on. It's refreshing to breathe easy knowing some friendships are effortless. You have managed to bring calm to some of my most chaotic moments, and celebrate the memorable ones. I am proud and inspired that you chose to dedicate the day which is about you, to helping others. A manifestation of your sweet and kind soul. HAPPY BIRTHDAY VIKKI! Love you hun!❤

Quite an experience being at Anchovy High School yesterday. The energy from the male and female students was amazing. I am proud to be aligned with the @appreciateyourmelanin initiative spreading messages about self-love and appreciation for ourselves. There is beauty in diversity. I had the pleasure of being one of the adjudicators for the Little Genius Show last month. The name of the event was quite fitting. A junior pageant, with a debate segment...I was in awe of the intellectual display beyond their years! Congrats to @indomitabletishauna and her @nexxstepp company for creating a such an impressive platform for the young leaders of St. Thomas.

I was 7 years old. The first experience I had with someone denigrating my blackness. Even though it was another child, I will never forget how it made me feel...such shame and pain. Thank God for my Grade 2 Teacher, who intervened and set me on my path to embracing my blackness.
For the first time, I shared this experience with a public audience, and also how I was able to rise above negative perceptions of skin colour and be boldly and unapologetically me. LOVE YOUR SKIN APPRECIATE YOUR MELANIN. As a national festival queen, a communication practitioner, a motivational speaker, radio co-host and much more, I am just one of MANY examples that YUH NUH HAFFI BLEACH FI REACH. I stand with @shari_melan_in on this journey and I am here to fully empower our black community. The colour of our skin is our identity, wear it as a badge of honour. Let us embrace and appreciate the diversity in beauty.
So I happy I could share one of my favorite songs for this launch. I listen to it EVERYDAY. Melanin - @thekhxos ft. @konshens Powerful song! #LoveYourSkinAppreciateYourMelanin@appreciateyourmelanin
Last night's presentation on climate change confronted our group with some serious issues. I am happy that though some of us were already aware, it made us think differently and more importantly about the role we see ourselves playing. That's what we want to achieve. It's not enough to know, but it's a start. Click the link in my bio to watch the animated video series on Jamaica and #ClimateChange .

Nothing like one of those stock up then stay home Saturdays. Still in the kitchen after this Coronation Market run. There's a different kind of peace when cooking quietly at home, especially after going through the hustle and bustle of 12 o' clock market. #SimplicityIsSoothing
