Several bridges link Buda and Pest across the Danube River, each with a fascinating tale to tell. The oldest and most famous is theΒ Chain Bridge (SzΓ©chenyi LΓ‘nczhΓ­d), which was opened for public traffic in 1849. Another nice bridge in Budapest isΒ Liberty Bridge, recognizable by its distinctive green color (photo). Originally it was named Franz Joseph Bridge. Liberty Bridge was the first bridge in the city to be rebuilt after suffering heavy damage during World War II. More info on Budapest can be found in my blog
